Olena Herneha
Olena Herneha is a Ukrainian soprano distinguished by her radiant tone, musical sensitivity, and engaging stage presence. She began her vocal training at the College of Culture and Arts in Vinnytsia before earning her Bachelor’s degree with honors at the National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in Kyiv. She recently completed her Master’s degree there with distinction and is currently continuing her artistic development at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (MDW).
Olena has performed a range of operatic roles across Europe, including Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Gretel, Sandmännchen, and Taumädchen in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Eurydice and Amor in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice, and Suor Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. Her performances have taken place in respected venues such as the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in Vienna, the Neue Studiobühne at MDW, and opera programs in Italy and Ukraine.
She has also prepared a rich variety of roles including Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Nannetta (Falstaff), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Frasquita (Carmen – in a sung version), and Maria from Ernst Krenek’s The Dictator. The latter, a work that sits between tonality and atonality, showcases her openness to contemporary repertoire and broadens her versatility for diverse artistic settings.
Olena speaks Ukrainian and Russian fluently and has working proficiency in German, English, and Italian, making her a flexible and adaptable choice for international productions. With a strong foundation, vibrant musicianship, and an ever-growing stage portfolio, she is establishing herself as a promising voice among the new generation of operatic artists.
